PPAB offers the only Accredited Training Technician and Professional Canine Trainer  certification for professionals who believe there is no place for shock, choke, prong, fear or intimidation in canine training and behavior practices. 

PPAB also offers the only psychometrically developed examination for Training & Behavior Consultants who also support  these humane and scientific practices


Please note, until further notice, the criteria has been amended for "Coaching Videos" for each of the three Accreditation levels. The updated criteria can be found in this supplemental guide. This is due to social distancing and the inability to hold in person coaching sessions.

Consumer Acknowledgement Form for Transparency
in Dog Training/Behavior Consulting Services 

Before engaging a dog trainer, dog behavior consultant or other dog training service, consumers have the right to transparency in terms of the risks and benefits associated with the services provided. Consumers are entitled to the knowledge of whether the selected professional uses a predominantly positive reinforcement training philosophy or whether they use alternative methods that, according to the growing body of scientific research, can cause physical and/or psychological damage to the dog. The consumer’s rights should also include a knowledge of the professional’s choice of tools and how they are used.

Before undertaking the training/behavior change plan of their selected professional, the consumer must be comfortable that the following information has been received and any questions answered to their satisfaction.
