PPAB offers the only Accredited Training Technician and Professional Canine Trainer  certification for professionals who believe there is no place for shock, choke, prong, fear or intimidation in canine training and behavior practices.

PPAB also offers the only psychometrically developed examination for Training & Behavior Consultants who also support  these humane and scientific practices

Please note, until further notice, the criteria has been amended for "Coaching Videos" for each of the three Accreditation levels. The updated criteria can be found in this supplemental guide. This is due to social distancing and the inability to hold in person coaching sessions.

Transfer FAQ's

As we receive questions from you we will add them here to aid future applicants.  In short our current  credentialing levels, three of them,  require skill and knowledge testing.

To successfully transfer a credential across to PPAB you will need to provide proof of passing these two elements from a reputable credentialing body.  You can part transfer in one component and supplement the transfer with correct  video submission to us directly based on the PPAB criteria. These criteria can be found in our level guides.

  1. Emotional Response video do I need to baseline a dog who is demonstrating a problematic CER to show a positive/happy CER. Answer: Absolutely not. It would be unethical to place a dog in a situation where they were uncomfortable. Conditioned Emotional Response videos can demonstrate you conditioning a +CER from a neutral stance. For example if a dog has a neutral response to a muzzle, then you can condition a +CER to this piece of equipment.
  2.  If i have had my skills assessed by one eligible organization and my knowledge by another can i use these to transfer my credential? Answer:  Yes you can. As  long as you meet the knowledge and skill criteria for the level you are transferring into that is the only criteria. It is important that through the transfer process we do not dilute the current PPAB credential skill and knowledge testing level.
  3. If i wanted to transfer into PCT- A and have a CPDT-KA only not the KSA, do i have to submit the videos for skill testing?  Answer: YES. The transfer process does not in any way dilute or lower the expectation and level of the PPAB credential.  Please read the PCT-A Guide on the skill video requirements. You can download it here.
  4.  If i am a CPDT-KSA and a CBCC-KA can i transfer directly into the PCBC-A? Answer: No you will need to meet the entire criteria for the  PCBC-A which includes several case studies. Your current credential meets the criteria for knowledge and skills only  see page 24 in the PCBC-A Study Guide for more information.
  5. If i have had all of my skills tested by an eligible credentialing organization but do not have proof of any examination what do i need to do?  Answer: At the CTT-A level You will then submit your transfer application and after assessment we would determine that you would need to sit our examination to prove competency with knowledge. You can then download the relevant study guide and coordinate with us an examination date. A fee for the examination will apply. $50.00
  6. How can i find out what the criteria are for the current PPAB credentials? Answer: Click here to find the study guides for each level
  7. Do i have to send you my exam questions and answers from my current credential organization. Answer: No you do not. You need to upload in your submission form a copy of your pass confirmation from your school. Most credible schools do not provide the complete list of questions or answers as this would impact the integrity of their examination process. We do need to see a copy of all documents that shows you  took the test and passed it.
